2014 Wellington Emerging Artist Competition, Artrium Gallery, Thorndon. 7-30 November: Ellen took second prize in the works on canvas category for her 'rag drawing of husband'. Another of Ellen's still life oil paintings was a finalist - Cider and Wine.
Rotary Club of Paraparaumu, 12th annual art show 2014: Ellen had 3 still life oil paintings entered in to this annual art event. 'Sun Ripening', 'Lemon or lime with your g&t?' and 'Refreshments'.
'Unleash Art' Ellen was one of the ten finalists in this competition run by the North City Shopping Centre with her acrylic on board, 'Green Eyed Girl'.

'Flora + Fauna + Floribunda' exhibition, at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts, Queens Wharf. Ellen's work 'Hybrid' was included in this beautiful spring exhibition.
'Friends of Pataka Arts Award' exhibition, at the Bottle Creek Gallery. Pataka. Alan exhibited 'Sleeping Partner' and Ellen's exhibited work was 'We who live in darkness'.
'Anything goes' at the Artrium Gallery, Thorndon. Ellen's funny but dark acrylic on canvas 'Apartments' was featured.
'Quarter Acre' at the Academy Galleries (NZAFA) 25 April to 2 June. An exhibition from the Artists of the Academy that focussed on the urban landscape. Alan exhibited 'Parking Lesson' and Ellen exhibited 'Apartments'.
'Finding Freedom' at the Artrium Gallery, Thorndon, 8 May - June. Ellen's quirky ballerina duo 'Nutcracker' and 'Foot Ballet' were featured.
'Naked' at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts (March - April 2014) featured collaborative works by Alan and Ellen. 'Acid Boy' (see our collaborations gallery) and 'One Word' (see above right).
Young + Gifted: Tui McLauchlan Art Award: Jan - Feb 2014, New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Ellen was one of the selected finalists for the 2014 award exhibition with her abstract fluid acrylics 'Smash' and 'Sky Fall'. These paintings are part of a series influenced by natural and man-made destructive forces. Other titles in the series include 'Storm' (exhibited at the NZAFA in 2013), 'Shards' and 'Seer'.
