Christmas Art Show, Academy Galleries - we had a small range of some of our favourite works in this eclectic cash and carry exhibition.

13th annual Rotary Club of Paraparaumu Art Show - Alan exhibited his framed charcoal, Navigator, which was the overall winner in the 2013 Wellington Emerging Artist Awards.  Ellen showed her latest poppy, and a new oil on board landscape, 'To the West'.

Pop d'Art - Ellen exhibited a range of works alongside her Bay Gallery colleagues, for this pop up art exhibition to celebrate 50 years of Porirua being a city.

Gallipoli Trilogy exhibition at the Academy Galleries, Queens Wharf.  Alan featured 2 charcoal drawings and Ellen featured a 1.2 metre mega poppy.  Great news. the mega poppy (Big Memories) sold and has found a new home in Australia.  Profits from the sale of this work are being donated to the RSA in Porirua.

'Solo 38' at the Academy Galleries, NZ Academy of Fine Arts.  This eclectic show featured the works of 10 artists and we displayed some of our most recent collaborative and individual work.  Included were our mega spin arts, as shown on the home page, along with Alan's latest MethChef and our 'tongue-in-cheek' MethChef Trophy.  We had some great feedback from visitors.

Signing Belonging - we both displayed new works in this exhibition at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Queens Wharf Wellington.  The exhibition explored the themes of ownership and belonging in AOTEAROA referencing aspects of multiculturalism, colonisation and transition.

Make peace and love

Every day, TV and newspapers seem to be filled with stories of war, terror, violence and intolerance. Nothing has changed since the days of the 60’s and 70’s peace campaigns of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, craving world peace.

Commemorations marking 100 years since the Great War, including the upcoming ANZAC day Gallipoli anniversary are powerful reminders about how fragile and precious peace is.

Alan has put many hours into creating his own ‘Peace’ message in a 6 ½  minute CGI video and unique soundtrack. The message is simple. ‘Make Peace and Love’!

Overseas art odyssey!

We had an amazing trip overseas earlier this year, spending 3 weeks in fabulous Lucca, Italy to undertake art studies.  We painted in 'plain air' in many magical and beautiful locations as well as visiting art galleries and museums and being totally immersed in art history and culture.   Following Italy we headed over to the UK to see some major art events, including an exhibition of works by Jackson Pollock at The Tate Liverpool.  We also visited the Lowry Centre in Salford, Manchester, the Nottingham Contemporary and saw an exhibition of one of our favourite contemporary artists, Grayson Perry at the Turner Centre, Margate.  Whew....
